Unida: Coping With The Urban Coyote (Reissue, Translucent Green 2xLP)

Before Queens of the Stone Age, before Vista Chino, there was Unida. Formed in the late 90s by John Garcia fresh off his tenure as the voice of Kyuss, the band released Coping With The Urban Coyote in 1999 and promptly disappeared before most people had a chance to hear it. A shame, because it's a desert rock record of the highest order: Garcia's unmistakable howl riding waves of sun-baked, groove-heavy riffage that sits comfortably alongside the best of the Palm Desert scene.

This reissue on translucent green 2xLP via Cobraside US finally gives the record the presentation it deserves. Sides 1 and 2 carry the original album in full, while Sides 3 and 4 add a previously unreleased live set, making this the definitive version of a long-overlooked classic.
