Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats step into a different kind of darkness on Nell’ Ora Blu. Built like the soundtrack to a lost Italian crime thriller, the album trades some of the band’s familiar fuzz for creeping synthesizers, shadowy keyboards and cinematic tension. Spoken Italian dialogue threads through the music, with appearances by screen icons Franco Nero and Edwige Fenech. It is a record to follow from the opening scene to the final fade, preferably with the lights low.
