A Night in New York, Captured Raw

New York's Roseland Ballroom is a near-guarantee of quality when it comes to live recordings. The legendary venue was one of those spaces that reeked of music history, hosting iconic performers who often defined their sound, or even their generation. Portishead's 1997 LP, captured at the same address, remains one of our all-time favourite possessions.

Aurally at a very different end of the spectrum, but no less significant in their lane, Queens of the Stone Age were at their very best on 13 November 2000. The Palm Desert hard rockers took to that same stage and delivered exactly what heavy guitar music should feel like: dusty, gritty, infectious rhythms packed in generous, sand-dune-digging spades. Raw, authentic and utterly alive.

About Queens Of The Stone Age

Formed from the ashes of Kyuss in Palm Desert, California, QOTSA built one of the most distinctive sounds in rock: hypnotic, heavy and deceptively grooved. The Roseland show captures them in the early years of that ascent, hungry and unpolished in the best possible way.
