Pantera – Metal Magic

1983. Arlington, Texas. Pantera's debut album, released on their own Metal Magic Records, the family label run by father Jerry Abbott. Terry Glaze on vocals, Rex Brown (then Rex Rocker) on bass, Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul already playing like a band twice their age. The sound is pure early 80s American heavy metal: melodic, hard-edged, and full of ambition. A world away from Cowboys from Hell, but the DNA is unmistakably there.

Metal Magic is where the story begins. The 2024 reissue presses it on red vinyl, completing the coloured vinyl early catalogue series alongside Projects in the Jungle (orange), I Am the Night (white).
