Risk is Megadeth's most controversial record. Released in 1999, it marked a deliberate departure from thrash into polished mainstream rock, a move that divided fans sharply at the time and still does. Stripped of the aggression that defined their classic run, it's a different kind of Megadeth record: melodic, radio-friendly, and unashamed about it. Whether that's a flaw or a feature depends entirely on who's listening.
