Few debut albums hit as hard or as deep as River Runs Red. Released in 1993 on Roadrunner Records, Brooklyn's Life Of Agony arrived fully formed, fusing NYC hardcore grit with alternative rock and a grunge-adjacent darkness that drew inevitable comparisons to Alice In Chains. Over thirty years on, it remains one of the defining records of the alternative metal era.

The album is the work of bassist Alan Robert, who wrote every lyric, melody, and musical concept. The result is a warped concept album following a troubled teenager through themes of broken homes, misanthropy, and despair, elevated by dramatic skits that give the whole thing a genuinely unsettling atmosphere. Produced and mixed by Josh Silver, ex-keyboardist and producer for Type O Negative, the record has a weight and theatricality that few of its peers could match.

This newly remastered edition is pressed on Clear Red & Blue Swirl vinyl and comes with an insert, released via Real Gone Music US.
