Korn - Life Is Peachy (30th Anniversary Black Vinyl LP)

No breathing room, no polished edges. Korn’s Life Is Peachy takes the exposed nerve of their 1994 debut and pushes it into stranger territory, locking down-tuned riffs to hip-hop rhythms and a bass-heavy, lurching groove. Jonathan Davis’s fractured vocal eruption on “Twist” throws the door open, while “Good God”, “No Place To Hide” and “A.D.I.D.A.S.” turn the agitation into some of the band’s most enduring hooks.

Originally released in 1996 and produced by Ross Robinson, this second album catches the Bakersfield band stretching the vocabulary of nu metal before it became a mainstream fixture. Deftones’ Chino Moreno joins their take on Ice Cube’s “Wicked”, a brief detour through War’s “Lowrider” breaks the tension, and “Porno Creep” and “Mr. Rogers” keep the atmosphere deeply uneasy. This UK/EU 30th anniversary edition presents the album on black vinyl, with the a cappella version of “Twist” listed as the closing track.
