King Buffalo's darkest record, and arguably their most powerful.
Named after the river of woe in Greek mythology, Acheron marks a decisive shift in the band's sound. Where earlier records moved slowly and meditatively, this one has teeth. The grooves are heavier, the atmosphere more oppressive, and the songwriting more direct. It's the sound of a band pushing into new territory without losing what made them essential in the first place.
Pressed on liquid blue vinyl by Stickman Records, this is a visually striking edition of one of the standout heavy psych records of 2022.
