delving - Hirschbrunnen (Purple Marbled 2LP)

A change of pace, not a shortage of ideas. On Hirschbrunnen, Elder frontman Nick DiSalvo steps outside his main band's framework to explore instrumental psychedelia, krautrock, progressive rock and electronic textures. Developed from years of accumulated song ideas during the pandemic, the album follows the freedom of home-recording experimentation, letting atmosphere and melody guide the way.

Its title means “stag fountain”, borrowed from a landmark near DiSalvo's home in Berlin that became a source of inspiration as travel gave way to a smaller, more familiar world. DiSalvo plays all instruments, with additional guitar from Michael Risberg on “The Reflecting Pool”, “Hirschbrunnen” and “Vast”. This 2021 Stickman Records edition spreads the seven-track album across two purple marbled LPs, a record to settle into rather than rush through.
