Blue Record is Baroness at their most expansive. Released in 2009, it charts a sprawling course through progressive metal, threading sludge-weight riffs and melodic detours across two records in a way that few of their peers have come close to matching. It remains the album that divided opinion at the time and cemented their reputation in retrospect.
From the lumbering opening of A Horse Called Golgotha to the loose-limbed swing of Jake Leg, it is a record that refuses to stay in one place for long. That restlessness is what makes it worth returning to.
This 14th pressing puts it on a double picture disc, playing at 45 RPM. The artwork is embedded in the vinyl itself. Edition of 4,500 copies.
